Health, Safety & Safeguarding
Our Safety, Welfare & Inclusion Commitment
At UK International Soccer, the safety, well-being, and positive development of every child is our highest priority. We are committed to providing a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment where participants can learn, develop confidence, and enjoy their experience.
Our policies and procedures are designed to protect children, support staff, interns, and coaches, and ensure appropriate responses to emergencies, safeguarding concerns, and participant welfare matters.
Key Areas:
Safeguarding & Child Protection
UKIS operates a zero-tolerance approach to abuse, neglect, exploitation, and inappropriate conduct. All staff, interns, and coaches are required to complete safeguarding training, follow strict codes of conduct, and immediately report any safeguarding concerns.
Background Checks & Coach Screening
UKIS is committed to recruiting qualified, responsible staff, interns, and coaches. All individuals working with participants are required to complete the appropriate background screening and vetting processes in accordance with state laws, school district requirements, and UKIS policies before working with children.
Child Abuse & Mandated Reporting
All UKIS staff, interns, and coaches working with children are trained in mandated reporting responsibilities and are required to report suspected abuse or neglect in accordance with applicable laws and safeguarding requirements.
Appropriate Staff & Participant Interactions
UKIS maintains clear guidelines regarding one-to-one interactions between staff, interns, and coaches, and participants. Any necessary individual discussions must be observable, interruptible, and conducted in public environments to ensure child safety and transparency.
Anti-Bullying
Bullying of any kind is not tolerated. UKIS promotes respect, teamwork, inclusion, and positive behavior. Any incidents of bullying are addressed promptly and may result in removal from the program if behavior continues.
Equality, Diversity & Inclusion
UKIS is committed to creating an environment where every participant, family, and staff member is treated with dignity, fairness, and respect regardless of race, ethnicity, nationality, gender, religion, disability, or background.
Concussion Awareness
The health and safety of participants is our priority. Our staff, interns, and coaches are trained to recognize the signs and symptoms of a suspected concussion. Any participant suspected of sustaining a concussion will be removed from activity immediately and may only return in accordance with applicable medical guidance and program requirements.
Medical Information & Allergies
Parents should notify UKIS of any medical conditions, allergies, medications, or other health considerations that may affect their child's participation. This information helps our staff respond appropriately in the event of an emergency.
Hydration & Heat Safety
UKIS promotes regular hydration breaks and monitors environmental conditions during all programs. Activities may be modified, delayed, or cancelled during periods of extreme heat or poor air quality to help protect the health and safety of participants.
Photography & Media
UKIS may photograph or record activities for promotional and educational purposes. All staff, interns, and coaches are required to follow UKIS policies regarding the appropriate use of photography and media involving participants. Parents may opt out where applicable.
